Lorcaserin is currently marketed under the trade name Belviq and previous Lorqess, and is a diet pill developed by Arena Pharmaceuticals. It reduces appetite by activating a serotonin receptor called the 5-HT2C receptor in the brain region called the hypothalamus, which is known to control appetite.
